Bread and Roses
About the Design
“Bread and Roses.” Hyperrealistic digital painting. Carlos Tato, 2019.
Inspired by “Bread for all, and Roses, too!’”, a political slogan, origin of the rose as an icon of the left also inspiration for a poem and a song of the same name. It appeals to both fair wages and decent working and living conditions, and has resonated throughout history for going beyond struggles for marginal advances to the root of the need for a dignified and respectful life for all people.
