About the Design
Vostok 1 (which means East or Orient 1) was the first manned spaceflight in history, launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome on April 12, 1961. It made the soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin the first human to cross into outer space and orbit around Earth. The illustration features the launch of the rocket, playing with a pop art style, and using baroque and nouveau elements.
